Sept. Saturday, September 14: Shawangunks.   pictures when we get them
A 9 mile walk: past the Trapps with its climbers, then a rock scramble through The Crevice, Sky Top, The Labyrinth, High up on Eagle's Nest, and Giants Workshop. And even a detour through a local market fair in the middle of the hike.

Oct. Sunday, October 6: Canoeing in Hewlett Harbor.
 
 Friday-Saturday, October 18-19: Hunter Mountain Overnight
A one night stay in the new Hunter Mountain Lean-to and a trip to the top of Hunter Mountain.

Nov Sun, Nov. 17: Palisades Hike
Sat, Nov.23: Shwangunks
Bike over the carriage roads to the crevice; over the rocks and up through the crevice to Sky Top; down to the hotel past the skating rink to the lake;  through the labyrinth and around the lake to get back to the bikes; then bike on over cliff road to the parking lot in the last bit of twilight.

6.6 miles to the top of this 1664' ridge.  Up the Sweet Clover Trail, past the Megaliths, to the high point on the ridge and then down the Dark Hollow Trail.

 mapSunday, December 29:  Nassau-Suffolk Greenbelt Trail
5.6 miles starting at Cold Spring Harbor and ending in Westbury at route 25.  By getting an early start we got only  minor rain while we were on the trail and were back in our cars before 12:30 when the rain started for real.

Up the Major Welch, down the southbound A-T, through doodletown and back to the car then a quick trip through the zoo to visit the lowest spot on the Appalachian Trail but no bears visible in the bear pen. Went in to see the Merry-Go-Round but didn't ride on it.  Pictures sometime.

Up the Major Welch, down the northbound A-T and back to the car shortly before dark  On snowshoes all day with at least 20" of powdery snow most of the time.   Pictures sometime.

On snowshoes all day with at least 20" of snow most of the time.   
After a late start due to traffic delays, our large group went to Reeves Meadow.  Up to the top of Ramapo Torn and then back on the 7-hills trail over a very scenic mountain.   On snowshoes all day with at least 18" of snow most of the time.   more pictures sometime.
